On 27th of January 2022, Letusin presents the release of their third issue, “Lost Paradise”. This issue marks our collaboration with Pantai Pandan; A local community in Carita, Banten. Our collection will be released at the end of January, and will also be displayed in pop-up booth in Pantai Pandan, Carita on the 5th of February 2022. Lost Paradise is a series of 5 tees, and one drawstring bag manifesting Pantai Pandan’s very own soul in a wearable medium with Letusin’s approach.

Pantai Pandan itself is a concrete attempt done by local creative workers, Carita Boys, to give Carita its second wind after being struck by a tsunami several years ago. The tsunami left a scar and fear for the tourists to visit Carita, and drastically impacted their main source of income. Seeing this issue, Carita Boys polished an abandoned beach and gave Carita a new life with various activities and surfing events. Letusin strives to contribute to the change.

All of the graphics were designed by Carita Boys’ pioneer, Rimba Mahardika, and was finalized by Letusin. All of the designs romanticized Pantai Pandan nostalgic depiction of Carita; a lost paradise. We wanted to portray the warmth and vibrant atmosphere in Pantai Pandan, that no words can describe, and infuse it in this issue. The colorways used it to illustrate the place itself. The abundance of greeneries in Pandan is symbolized with green. The radiant sun shining year-round, symbolized with yellow. The sea spray on the peak of waves people surfed on, symbolized with white. Surely a nostalgic piece representing the very own essence of Pantai Pandan.

By releasing this piece, Letusin wished everyone would always remember and get involved in our lost paradise. The carefree steps we retraced, will bring us back to the sandy coast, where waves licked our toes. The golden sunset framed to our minds like a photograph. Gust of winds animated palm trees to dance to the flamboyant tunes; all, in Lost Paradise.

“We wanted to portray the warmth and vibrant atmosphere in Pantai Pandan, that no words can describe, and infuse it in this issue.”
